Bodily Injury Coverage

Accidents happen and the resulting damage can be quite costly. Bodily Injury coverage helps to cover the medical expenses that can occur from injuries or death resulting from an accident in which you are at fault. Bodily Injury coverage is a type of liability coverage that protects you and others involved in an accident. Its limits and requirements are subject to your policy. It is a requirement in almost all 50 states.

Generally speaking most people get 100/300/100 coverage. This means that each person involved in the accident is covered for up to 100,000 of coverage. The second number, 300, is coverage for the entire accident, a limit for the total amount of the claim. The last 100, provides property damage coverage against damages to other’s property. As an agent, I can help you determine what limits are best for you and if you should consider additional coverage. Bodily Injury coverage is usually part of every auto policy so it is important to understand what it means and how it affects you. Please contact us for questions regarding this type of coverage and to best determine your needs.

Collectible Auto

You’re on your way to the annual auto show, when someone rear-ends your classic 1957 Chevrolet. Fortunately, you had Collectible Auto insurance. When it comes to unique and rare automobiles, we’ve got you covered. You’ve poured time, effort and a lot of money into your collectible auto. It’s not just a hobby, it’s your passion. When you’re cruising beautiful country roads, the last thing you want to worry about is whether you have the right insurance policy.

Collectible autos aren’t standard vehicles and that’s why specialty insurance is so important. If you want insurance for your Collectible Auto, make sure your vehicle is covered by the specialty insurance experts. From Classics to Modifieds, we want to help you get the coverage you want.

We Provide:

  • Spare Parts Coverage

Up to $250 in spare parts is covered at no additional cost.

  • No Attendance Clause

Unlike other collectible auto insurers, we don’t have an attendance requirement for loss settlement. That means you can bring your car to a show and not have to worry about a loss while you’re walking around and enjoying other displays.

  • Agreed Value

To protect the value of your car, the “agreed value” on your policy should represent your vehicle’s current market value. In the event of a total loss you will receive the full agreed amount less any applicable deductible.

  • Low Premiums

If you’re insured under a specialty policy rather than a standard policy you can save hundreds of dollars and hassles. You’ll reap the rewards of a program designed with the true enthusiast in mind. The Collectible Auto Program has more features customized specifically for collectible car owners than a standard auto policy.

Collision Coverage

Whether it’s icy roadways, a blind spot, or an uncontrolled intersection, Collision Coverage pays any amount more than your deductible to restore the damage done to your vehicle to factory new condition in the event of an accident. Generally, Collision Coverage  reimburses you the amount needed to repair or replace your damaged vehicle, minus the deductible. This coverage is normally required if your vehicle is leased or if you have an outstanding loan on the vehicle.

These are just a few good reasons for getting Collision Insurance:

  • It pays for damages to your vehicle even if you are not at fault.
  • Your car can be fixed right away, if there is a debate over who is at fault and you don’t have Collision Coverage, you may have to wait a long time for the funds to repair your car; you also run the risk of never receiving payment for incurred losses.
  • The other person may be at fault but may not have insurance.
  • You hit a telephone pole because the roads were slippery, you hit an object late at night; the unexpected happens and sometimes it can cause a lot of damage to your vehicle. Collision covers the unexpected.
  • If you have a new or newer vehicle it covers damages that can be extremely costly.
  • If you can’t afford to replace your current vehicle, Collision Coverage helps get your vehicle back on the road without costing you an arm and a leg.

Comprehensive Coverage

Are you covered when the passing hail storm pellets your vehicle? Are you protected from the thief that hot-wired your ignition and drove away? Comprehensive Coverage covers a wide-range of incidents and accidents. Next to your home, your vehicle is probably one of your most valuable assets. Unfortunately, risk of damage to your vehicle isn’t restricted solely to an automobile accident. There are other events that can damage or destroy your main form of transportation. That is what Comprehensive coverage is for.

This coverage protects your investment in your vehicle by paying for losses resulting from fire, theft, falling objects, riots, storms, earthquakes, floods, collision with a bird or animal, and other natural occurrences.

Like Collision Coverage, Comprehensive Coverage generally includes a deductible and is normally required if your vehicle is leased or if you have an outstanding loan on the vehicle. Please contact us for more information about Comprehensive Coverage protection.

Fault or No-Fault Coverage

Who pays for the damage done to your vehicle? It actually depends. If you live in a no-fault state, your insurance will cover you. If you live in a fault state, the accident-causing party’s insurance will cover you. If you live in a no-fault state, your own insurance company pays for any losses or injuries to you, no matter who causes the accident. With no-fault, most claims can be settled quickly, without litigation over who’s at fault. However, no-fault can limit your right to sue to recover damages. Individual states set the coverage amount and place limits on your rights to file suit.

In fault states, the person at fault in the accident or that person’s insurance company pays. With a fault system, your right to sue is not restricted. The right of the other party to sue is not limited either so it is important to know what the amount of coverage that you have.

To learn more about your states requirements are and how they affect you, please contact us at any time.

Liability Coverage

You never know when someone might get hurt in an accident. You could stand to lose a lot if you are at fault. Liability Coverage provides protection against financial loss. Liability Coverage protects the insured against financial loss arising out of legal liability imposed upon him/her in connection with bodily injuries (or death) suffered, or alleged to have suffered, by persons or the public, or damage caused to property other than property owned by or in the custody of the insured as a result of the maintenance of the premises, or the business operations of the insured.

With all that being said, when accidents occur, individuals in the accident are compensated for injury or losses caused. Usually the largest expenses are medical; however fees and costs can be exorbitant if a lawsuit occurs. Some individuals may want to consider Umbrella Liability Insurance to protect against catastrophic loss.

Contact us for more information regarding your current policy or to find out more about Umbrella Liability policies and if you should consider getting one.

Medical Payments Coverage

It’s been a month since the accident and you just received your first hospital bill. Medical Payments Coverage makes sure you’re protected against the income losses caused by medical and funeral expenses. Did you know that the average funeral cost today is $65001 or that in 2007 health expenditures were expected to rise 6.9 percent2? It should be the last thing that your loved ones have to worry about, should something happen to you, but planning for it is a necessary reality.

Medical Payments coverage makes sure that medical bills and funeral expenses are covered should you, or a passenger, be injured or killed in a vehicle accident. This coverage extends to you or a family member when riding as a passenger in someone else’s vehicle or when struck by a vehicle when on foot. Costs are covered up to the amount specified by the policy.

If you have more questions about how to be prepared for medical or funeral expenses caused from an automobile accident, please contact us for more information.

Motor Homes

It’s time to get out on the open road. And, now more than ever, you may be likely to choose a home on four wheels rather than on a permanent foundation. It’s important to make sure that you and your home have the right protection no matter where you are. Take to the road in your motor home and choose your own adventure. Will you drive to camp in the mountains or to take in a sporting event? You know the great outdoors. And with the open-ended possibilities that lie ahead, the right insurance shouldn’t be a question.

Here are some of the Motor Home coverages we offer that aren’t included in a typical auto policy:

  • Comprehensive Coverage for protection from just about any direct, sudden, and accidental loss, including: collision, fire, smoke, flood, landslide, hail, windstorm, animals, vandalism, low branches or overhangs, theft and lightning.
  • Coverage for Attached Accessories, including awnings, satellite dishes and TV antennas.

Here are some of the popular optional Motor Home coverages:

  • Total Loss Replacement Coverage that protects your motor home from the effects of depreciation. If your new-model motor home is destroyed within its first five years, we’ll pay to replace it with a brand new one of similar kind and quality no matter what it costs. In years six through ten, we’ll give you up to what you paid for it originally toward the purchase of another motor home. This option can save you literally thousands of dollars when compared to typical auto policies, which pay only the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of your motor home at the time it’s destroyed. ACV is the current value of your motor home.
  • Emergency Expenses Coverage that pays for lodging or travel home if your rig is damaged or destroyed by a covered loss more than 50 miles from home.
  • Campsite/Vacation Liability Coverage that provides liability coverage when you are parked and using your motor home as a residence.
  • Replacement Cost Coverage on personal belongings destroyed or stolen.
  • Towing and Roadside Assistance eliminates the hassle of buying a separate towing plan. Towing, jump starts, roadside service, flat tire changes, fuel delivery, and locksmith services are just a toll-free phone call away. There are no out-of-pocket payments required, either. Just sign and drive. What’s more, your motor home is covered regardless of who is driving!
  • Full-Timer Coverage provides liability protection very similar to a homeowners policy. While an auto policy will only provide liability protection when you are using your motor home as a vehicle, a Full-Timer policy covers you when you are parked and using your rig as a residence, too.

We offer optional coverages that let you customize your policy. Some coverages may be subject to company approval or may not be available in all states. Contact us at any time for more information.

Optional/Add-on Equipment Coverage

Adding features to your vehicle may add a personal touch but they can get “spendy”. That’s why we provide Optional/Add-on Equipment Coverage. Under the Comprehensive and Collision portion of your policy, optional equipment (a CD player for example) is covered only if permanently installed in the opening of the dash where the manufacturer would normally install such equipment. An endorsement is available to provide coverage for optional equipment not permanently installed in the dash and for theft of items such as tapes, discs or other equipment designed for the reproduction of sound.

Contact us for more information regarding Optional/Add-On Coverage.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Coverage

Personal Injury Protection takes care of medical expenses and lost wages caused from an accident. Rising medical costs make financial recovery just as difficult, if not more catastrophic than the physical damages caused in the accident. Because of this, it’s never been more important to make sure that you’re covered. Unfortunately medical expenses can cause a tremendous amount of financial stress. Just as stressful, can be the financial losses due to the inability to work.

Personal Injury Protection covers lost wages and the replacement of the services of someone injured in an accident. It is coverage that is generally required in no-fault states but is still available in other states.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage

You know that you have insurance coverage but what about the “other guy”? What if the other guy doesn’t have enough insurance? Unisured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage, protects you from the “other guy” and those other variables. Uninsured Motorist coverage covers you, insured members of your household and your passengers in an accident with a motorist who has no insurance or is underinsured. It also provides coverage if you’re hit by a hit-and-run driver and applies to you and the insured members of your household, even as pedestrians. Coverage includes payment of medical costs, lost wages and pain and suffering. It is required in many states. This coverage typically covers any difference between what the other at fault driver’s insurance covers and the costs of your bodily injuries, up to the limits of the policy.
